We arrived at the front gate of the hotel on Saturday afternoon and received our parking pass. The gate attendant must have radioed ahead to the hotel's front entrance, because as soon as we walked up, a woman stepped forward and welcomed us by name and wished us a happy wedding anniversary. Impressive! Then she escorted us to the front desk and told the front desk staff our name and that we were celebrating our first wedding anniversary. Again, we were wished a happy anniversary. Such great service! The hotel was gorgeous. We definitely want to stay there again for future anniversaries!
Dinner that evening was fabulous at The Cheesecake Factory. We shared a slice of their 30th Anniversary Cheesecake and yummmm...it was delicious! Here's a pic to make you drool:
Then we were off to the show. I had never been to a Cirque du Soleil performance before and I was so blown away! It was amazing! We hope to see many more of their shows in the future.
When we arrived back to our room Saturday evening, there was an envelope addressed to "Mr. and Mrs. V." propped up on the counter. Inside, there was a card wishing us a happy anniversary and it was signed by the hotel staff. In our mini refrigerator, there was a tray of assorted fruits and cheeses, along with a bottle of champagne! We are in love with this hotel! (Of course, I didn't have any of the champagne. DH had a glass of it then dumped the rest down the drain.)
On Sunday, we just spent the afternoon relaxing by the pool. It was so nice out. We have some nice sunburns going on right now though. We haven't spent any time in the sun since last summer!
We arrived home Sunday night and exchanged gifts. DH got me the Willow Tree figurine titled "Together". I designed a word cloud from the website Wordle that had all different words from our wedding ceremony. I framed it in an 11x14 brown wood frame with an 8x10 matting and we're going to hang it on the wall in our house.
I ordered a 6 inch round cake from the bakery that made our wedding cake last year (Cakes by Jenny - see picture of our original here) and had it designed to look just like the original, since we forgot to freeze our cake topper before our honeymoon last year and it wasn't good anymore when we returned home. (The icing color turned out a little more green than the original, but it still looked pretty). We sliced it using our cake serving set from the wedding, and had a toast (with sparkling white grape juice) using our toasting glasses from the wedding as well.
All in all, it was a wonderful weekend celebrating our first year together! Here's to many more!
