It's all about them words...

Sorry for being MIA for so long and then to pop in with a post about the new words Brayden is saying! I've been meaning to make a list, but just keep forgetting to actually write it down, and I knew that if I wrote it down, I'd probably lose it, so I thought I'd just type it up so I have it to reference. I can't believe his 18 month check-up is in like 3 weeks! I want to be able to have an idea of what he's saying so I can go over it with the doctor, since he wasn't saying much at his last check-up. The doctor said that as long as he's saying more at 18 months than he was at 15 months, then everything should be fine. :)

At 15 months, Brayden could say: mama, dada, buh-buh (for "bubby" or "brother"), bye, and "this", which is what he would say when pointing to anything that he wanted. I guess we were saying, "Do you want this?" too often!

Here we are at 17 months. Most of these words he has just started saying within the last week or two!

Words Brayden can say:
mama
dada (FAVORITE word by far! he says it in an angelic sing-song voice)
buh-buh (as in "bubby", the nickname for "brother")
bye (said with a Southern accent like "bah"...no idea why)
hi (the same...very Southern...sounds like "haa")
ball
hot dog (sounds like "duh-dog")
shoes* (sounds like "shoosh")
juice* (sounds like "joosh")
*shoes & juice sound very similar, but you can tell by context what he means.
no (he says it repeating like "noo-noo-noo-noo"...and it sounds like the "noo" in "noodle")
mah (he's started saying this for "milk")
yeah/yep (while nodding his head "yes")
this (says while pointing to something he wants, although he's stopped doing this quite a bit)

Words Brayden can sign:
bye
baby
dog
milk
eat
more
all done
please
bath (on occasion)
car (on occasion)
airplane (not the official ASL sign, but the gesture you use when doing the "airplane" game to try to get a kid to eat food from a spoon...haha!) :)

Animal Sounds:
dog - I can't even explain this sound. It's some high-pitched sound he makes to mimic me when I say "ruff ruff". It's like "uh-uh!" but high-pitched.
cat - "mow-mow", rhymes with "wow"
cow - "ooooo", leaving off the "m" sound
monkey - again, totally hard to explain, but he's mimicking me saying "ooo-ooo-eee-eee!"

Other Sounds:
car - "vroom vroom"
airplane - hard to explain.
mmm - when something is yummy
mwah - when giving kisses

Body Parts he points to:
nose
hair
head
belly button
eyes & mouth - occasionally

He is running, walking backwards, tip-toeing, turning in circles, trying to do somersaults (although he just rolls over to the side), and CLIMBING on everything - like the kitchen table and his dresser! He can walk/crawl up the stairs on his playground and go down the slide by himself when no one is watching...otherwise, he wants to hold your hand while he goes down. He has 16 teeth (all except for the 2 year molars) and they have all been in since he was about 14 months old, weighs around 24 lbs, sleeps from 8:00 pm until 7:30 am every night, and usually naps from 1-4 pm everyday. His favorite food is hot dogs and his favorite show to watch is Imagination Movers on the Disney channel. He is very shy, cautious, and slow to warm up to new situations and people. It takes him longer if he is at a new location, but it happens more quickly when he's on his own turf at home, and then he will start acting silly and showing off for the new person. He is a clingy little monkey and pinches me underneath my right arm or near my right bra strap in the front when he is nervous. I get pinched a lot. When he randomly gets fussy during the day, it's usually because he is thirsty. He is the most well-hydrated person I know. He drinks a 6 oz cup of milk with each meal (3x a day = 18 oz), plus about 4 oz of juice each day, and at least two 8-10 oz cups of water. What is that, like 40 oz of liquid? Yeah, he has some awesome kidneys, as evidenced by the amount of wet diapers I change everyday. :) He gives kisses upon request (most of the time) and has started saying "mwah" when he gives them.

I love that little guy more than I ever knew was possible.
