I had an u/s (biophysical profile) and my 38 week appointment this morning (@ 38w2d).
Stats:
-Weight: +33 lbs (up 4 lbs from last week! WTH?? I hope this is from the insane swelling.)
-BP: It's good. Can't remember what it was though. 112/? - I think maybe 68.
-Urine: Must have been okay because they didn't mention it.
-Didn't listen to the heartbeat or measure the fundal height b/c I had an u/s.
The u/s went great. Fluid levels are good (17), his movements are good, breathing motions are good. He scored an 8/8 on whatever is it they are scoring. So baby is happy and healthy inside. Only...he's already 8 lb 2 oz! Ahhh! 4 weeks ago, he was 5 lb 9 oz, so we expected him to be about 2 lbs bigger today, but he was 2 lb 9 oz bigger! He decided to be an overachiever and gain an extra half a pound in there somewhere. I am freaking out over the thought of how much bigger he could get with more time in there...
Then I had my first internal exam. No dilation. No effacement. Cervix is still long. I think he said it's soft though? I can't remember. I was still upset over finding out there was no progress in that area even though I've been having painful contractions for the past few weeks (irregular, but daily and frequent). What is the point of contractions if not to make you dilate/efface? Come on now! Pain for no reason? No thank you! Siiiigh.
I go back on Tuesday for another u/s and internal exam. If my cervix is favorable and showing any signs of dilation/effacement, he'll give me the option of induction next week (I'll be 39 weeks on Wednesday). He's on call on Thursday, so I think that would be the day. But if I'm still closed up tight, then we keep on waiting. He won't induce without favorable conditions b/c of the likelihood that it won't work and I'd end up with a C-section. Oh yeah, if I was dilated, he was going to sweep the membranes today to get things moving along, but he obviously couldn't because I wasn't opened up at all. Maybe next time. But the exam still hurt and I'm feeling pretty crampy right now! I hope that means something is happening.
Any ideas to get things moving? Walking isn't an option because my feet/legs are so swollen I'm supposed to keep them up whenever I'm not at work. Going to try to get some lovin' from DH this weekend to see if that helps! ;)
