So...tired...

**Warning: Vent ahead. Enter at your own risk.**

I know it's probably way too early for this, seeing as how I still have 13 weeks to go. But I'm just SO.EFFING.TIRED! I feel like I am just dragging my body around this week, going through the motions of life. I'm in a coma-like state when I wake up in the mornings (and I'm NOT a morning person to begin with). I cannot pull myself out of bed before 8 am. Which is when I'm supposed to be at work, by the way. I'm typically getting there by 9 am. Which I know my boss is not too fond of. (Yes, I'm making up the hours, but still, it doesn't look so good.) I sit at my desk just thinking..."I want to put my head down...I want to change into comfy pj pants...I want to go to bed." My body has zero energy left, and I'm thinking, "How am I going to make it 13 more weeks like this, AND get through labor?". The task seems daunting, yet I know there is no other choice but to keep plugging along.

This Florida heat certainly isn't helping things. It's 97-99 degrees everyday, with a heat index of well over 100. And I don't just get to stay inside all day for my job. I do home visits, so I am constantly lugging bags to the car, which has baked to a nice 350*F in the sun, wait for the A/C to get kicking, drive to someone's house, unload my stuff, walk up to their house, and then when I'm done an hour later, lug it all back to the steamy car, wait for the A/C to get going again, drive back to work, unload it, and repeat once or twice more that day. Ugh.

Oh, and did I mention that school is starting back on August 24th? DREAD. It's my job to take SS there because his school is just a couple of minutes away from my office, which is across town from both our house and DH's office. But this means I'll be forced to wake up EARLY. School starts at 7:45 am, although he should be there a few minutes earlier so he doesn't get marked tardy (which the school is pretty strict about because he's in a magnet program). We have to leave our house by 7:15 am at the latest. So now I'll be waking up at 6:30 again. 6:30?!?! How the eff am I going to pull that off when I've been waking up at 8 am all summer? (DH has been dropping SS off to summer camp because it's close to our house and his work.).

Last year wasn't as bad because I was in my first trimester at the very end of the school year and I honestly wasn't that tired then (the fatigue kicked in during the 2nd tri). In addition to all of this, SS got accepted to Safety Patrol this year. We don't know the specifics yet, but he's definitely going to have to be at school by at least 7:15 am, because the kids in SP assist with the drop-off circle, waving parents through so they keep on moving through the line. And as I mentioned, we usually LEAVE at 7:15 am. So now we'll be leaving at...what...6:45? Maybe 7:00 if traffic isn't too bad that early in the morning (which I won't know until school starts back up). So that means wake-up time will be pushed up even further...to like 6 am. Which is unheard of. That's an ungodly hour. It's not even right. That's one of my morning pee times, where I blindly stumble into the bathroom, do my business, and stumble right back into my comfy bed to cuddle with my pillows and DH until his alarm goes off at 7:30.

I'm sure many of you have to get up that early for work. And you probably think I'm being a big baby. Whatever. All I know, is that my body feels like CRAP right now, and I know it's only going to feel worse when I'm forced to start waking up 2 hours earlier in the morning and am even MORE pregnant.

God help everyone I come in contact with from August 24th until this baby comes. I'm going to be one unpleasant, tired, cranky pregnant woman.

And oh yes, I've informed DH that while I'm on maternity leave in November and December, HE is the one who will be dropping SS off to school in the morning. I don't care if it's across town from our house and his office. My post-partum, sleep-deprived a$$ is NOT going to be leaving the house that early to load a newborn into the car and drive across town to take SS to school. He is out of his mind if he thinks that. He had the audacity to say to me this morning, "Well, you can just come back home and go to sleep afterwards."

::Side eye and blank stare::
There was so much wrong with that statement that my fatigued and hormonal self couldn't even begin to formulate the words to respond to him.

Hmm...maybe some of this has to do the with the fact that I finally switched to Caffeine-Free Coke this week?

  1. Don't feel bad about being freaked out at getting up early. You're in your 3rd trimester. You are making a baby! You have no choice but to be tired. Any woman in your position would feel the same way!

  2. Ugh I feel the same way and live in Boston. I can't even imagine what it would be like with the Florida heat. You have my utmost sympathies.
